I am a deputy sheriff and my patrol vehicle is a 2013 Chevrolet Suburban 2500. Recently the liftgate stopped unlocking and opening. The liftgate is a power locking/unlocking mechanism but not a power liftgate. The window opens just fine but I can't get larger equipment out of it now. I can't access the inside of the liftgate since the back end is full of equipment and the front of the rear is blocked with a K-9 and Prisoner cage. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

I'm guessing that if the window still opens, it's not as simple as a blown fuse, since I would expect that the window latch and tailgate latch are on the same circuit. The tailgate handle on the exterior can be removed, but I've never done it myself. I'd suggest taking it to your local dealership. I would expect that when they see you roll up and you explain the problem, they'll get you in and out pronto, and your agency should cover any cost.
