Default 2013 Suburban badges

Hello all. I'm new to this site. I just bought a '13 1500 Suburban. I own a '74 C-10 with a built 468 and all kinds of go-fast stuff. Anyways, my question is. I want to matte black all my badges. My truck is black so I figured it'd look cool. First part of the question, what's the best way to remove and reapply the lettering? Second, I see how the front bow tie comes off the grill, how does the back one come off? Thanks again. I should add I'm not a total noob. I've done small projects for years, just new to this truck and these adhesive backed letters.

Welcome to the forum.

I used an old credit card like a putty knife. Others have used fishing line or dental floss. As far as reapplying, you'll have to use 3M body trim tape and cut to fit.

(This post just showed up, don't know where it's been)

The back is just glued on. I used fishing line to remove it before i painted it.

Default grill and bowtie

I just purchased a 2014 burn ltz. I wanted to replace gold bow ties with black ones. I also would like to paint chrome grill black.

How do you remove front bow tie? step by step as I am not mechanical

How do you remove grill? same as above

Thanks

It's held on by two nuts on the back, 10mm IIRC. May be some small amount of adhesive also. Best the push on the posts on the backside. See post #2 for removing the rear bowtie. Be sure to use an adhesion promoter on both the bowties and the grill.

hey fellas there's a product out there called plastidip. it's a matte rubber coating and the best part is if you don't like it or want to go back you can just peel it off! if you're gonna spray the grill with it make sure you put some cardboard behind the grill to catch it. you don't want that stuff on your radiators or coolers! and you don't have to remove the badging, if you get it in spots you don't want it just rub it off! i'll take a pic tomorrow of my bowtie with it

Plastidip is GREAT stuff. I painted the hood of my 1972 Ford Bronco with it
Last month. 2 Cans for under 14 bucks from Home Depot.
