2013 Tahoe oil level confusion
I recently did my first oil and filter change on our new (to us) 2013 Tahoe.
The manual calls for 5.7 liters. So far I have only put in one large jug (4.7 liters) but the dipstick is already showing as being quite a bit overfull.
Checked the VIN to confirm the vehicle model etc, and the dipstick appears to be the correct one. (12622055)
The truck was leveled first.
Checked again the next day after running it and let it sit for 1/2 hour. The level showed the same. Past the max fill level and just past the first 2 in the part number.
Does anyone have a clue why it would be reading as overfull when there is a liter LESS than the recommended amount of oil?

I considered the possibility but a few things made me discount that. First I have the records for all the service performed on the vehicle by the previous owner, he had all of his work done at the dealer where I bought it. His oil changes were done regularly.
Also, with the current level showing on the dipstick, I would guess it's about 1/2 liter overfull. Add that to the missing 1 liter that hasn't been poured in yet, would add up to a total of about a liter and a half of sludge. That just doesn't seem possible, especially on a truck that had regular oil changes.
I really appreciate the input though, thank you very much.
