Well, it turned out Monday that the leak I saw on the front passenger side was actually coolant from a radiator leak on the driver side of the radiator. So the shop ordered a brand-new radiator and hopefully the Yukon should be ready for pick-up today. So me finding that leak saved me about $400/my labor or fighting over a repair (15-day warranty). I imagine a new radiator done by a mechanic shop might be $700.....

Yukon had the operational integrated trailer brake controller all ready to use - there are controls for it on the left side of steering wheel and the trailer receptacle and 2" receiver are present.....but the trailer 12 volt positive wire was not connected to the fuse box, was simply bundled up near it in the engine compartment - strange, so I had to connect that to power an electric jack for the horse trailer.

Today she took the Yukon to the dealer for the recall replacement of the passenger side Takasha air bag, no charge, half-day. Interestingly, the dealer supplied a repair estimate (below), based on age and odometer reading; note that the differentials, transmission, oil/filter had all been changed in November 2022, as had been the entire radiator and coolant.

Of course, none of that will be getting done. It seems that they measured tread of the tires and thickness of the brake pads (all 7mm) but I knew that already as I'd pulled the wheels last month to check, when I found out that the supplied lug wrench (22mm) was incorrect size and that 19mm was needed. When I took my 2004 Nissan Frontier in for recall replacement of a steering part (potential corrosion, like zero issue in Arizona), all Nissan tried to upsell was a car wash.

 

I assume that such "suggested repairs" are the norm for most dealers. I only wish that I'd put a piece of scoth tape on the hood, because I believe that the dealer NEVER even opened the hood, made their upsell sheet based on vehicle mileage and age only. Like the battery terminals look as clean as a 2023 vehicle on the lot, how could anyone suggest a $50 battery service if they actually saw that.

Anyway, glad the recall replacement was done (I assume the recorded phone calls will NOT stop), and glad no check engine lights appeared !!!
