Tahoe & SuburbanThe power, space, and brutal towing ability make the Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Suburban, arguably the best full size SUV's on the market today.
Hello everyone. I just purchased a 2015 Suburban LS 4x4. My questions is how do you put it in 4x4 low? My switch does not have the option like the others I have seen or like the manual states. Also does anyone have any experience with a front leveling kit and if so what are the Pros/Cons.
I'm guessing GM realized that 99.5% of drivers never used 4-low. Thus decided to save weight/cost/etc. by omitting it.
I've used it exactly 2x in 100,000 miles. Once I took a turn where my front passenger tire went into a ditch and the truck was riding frame, while towing a 6500 lb trailer down a hill. (so I had to use 4 low to reverse 5')... worked fine.
Other time was towing my mower out of a ditch in the yard. (damn hills).
Both times, 4-high might have worked, but w/the trailer I was happy to have it...
As others stated, you have a one-speed transfer case and no 4-lo.
I'm not a big fan of the leveling kits. It puts extra stress on your front CV joints and will likely cause premature failure. Is that really worth it for a "look?"
I use 4-Lo quite a bit, but that's because I tend to take my Burbs places that a lot of other people don't. My best use of it was when I pulled a 30-ton garbage truck out of a ditch.
Thanks everyone for the input. I have had 4x4 my entire life and maybe used it once or twice. No big deal just wondering why the booked showed it but no option on the switch.
I use 4WD-lo frequently, not so much OTR, but when moving my TT around. My Burb is so powerful in Lo, that I hardly realize there's a large Trailer back there.
