2015 Suburban: new convert buying guidance?
besides the engine and transmission difference, it looks like the Yukon xl denali is an AWD 4WD system while the Suburban LTZ is a 4WD. Does that mean that the Yukon can't be forced into 4WD by the driver manually?
I believe the 8 speed will make it's way to the rest of the line up. I can't find a more detailed link, but I thought for sure I read that the 8 speed was supposed to be in the 2015 Tahoe, but missed the launch, and would be added soon.
Yes, the ability to remove plasti-dip (which also comes in like 20 colors) is very appealing. (get it? Peeling)? lol... yea ok... too much tequila at lunch.
I plan to flat black my jeep this summer before I take it off road. $40 in spray coating is 10x cheaper than painting a door!
Thought about doing my wife's rims a neat shade of blue just for fun... don't like it? peel it off!
I like the look on mine, and figure it may keep them nicer over the winter. I also plan to paint my boat trailer wheels black so they match
Tahoe vs. Yukon vs. Caddy;
Caddy gets you so much bling you're going to get shot at... not to mention insurance is $$
The Tahoe gets you the best overall price. Yukon adds some nice touches that 80% of people would never notice, but if you want lux, you might.
Personally, if i was going to give GM another shot (long story); I'd favor the front end of the new Yukon. to me it looks a hair better than the Tahoe version.
They are all the same frame/suspension (other than options), etc. some add full time AWD, which is nice, but then you lose 4-low (I had to use 4 low last summer to get out of a ditch attached to my 6,000 lb boat trailer).
As for the DVR;
I'd have to see if it's in my NewEgg history. (i LOVE Computer Parts, Laptops, Electronics, and More - Newegg.com)
I run a 8 camera DVR on my house. Setup to record 24/7 and I have enough hard drive, to do that approx 14 days.
Setting up the motion recording/emails/etc. was just a PITA. (so i didn't)
I also have a 8 camera DVR on my work shop.
Both are setup such that I can use my iphone any time, anywhere in the world and see live what's going on at my home.
I've caught UPS deliveries, septic guys taking a whiz on a tree, and my driveway sealer kicking my dog's soccer ball into the neighbors yard... which when I showed to the supervisor/owner, he promptly got me a new soccer ball. No real harm, but I can watch my driveway get sealed from work. Or check in any time I'm away.
While camera's will never stop someone from stealing my TV and driving off with it today around 3PM. the entire thing will be on tape. from multiple cameras.
Your emails not working are most likely because (i assume) you're trying to use a @comcast.net or @yourISP.com address, and most DVRs are either not smart enough to setup enough detail to work, or just such a pain people skip it.
Some use dedicated sites/hosting to send alert to text/iphone/etc. Those would be very easy to setup, but may have monthly fees.
I'd like to do a car lime green for fun. I may also plasti-dip one of my jet skis this summer.

Many, many, MANY people, makers, etc. use 4WD and AWD interchangeably.
However, they are different.

if you live in a state w/snow... AWD is really nice.
I still love my Jeep... MANUAL 4WD.

Yep I just sprayed the wheels (rubber) with some wheel shiney, so the plasti-dip wouldn't stick. (tires off tahoe), then washed them w/simple green all over, dried, and went to town w/the spray.
I wonder if they could make a tougher version for field emergencies. I know we have superglue for cuts now, could you spray a large injury, have it seal the person's insides long enough to get them treatment? buying incredible time to save a life?
I'd wrap my leg in duct tape before I bled out. why not a spray?

Then, maybe come 2020, I'll give her the Model S (She wants the sedan) I'll be able to pickup a 2018/19 Model X.
Unless of course I happen to win the lotto I don't play... in which case, I'm quitting my job, moving somewhere warm, and buying some damn cars!

Regarding wheel size; I had factory 20's on my Sub, and went DOWN to the factory 17's. The ride is much better, snow and beach driving easier and all around cost less expensive. The tire cost (Michelin LTX MS2) I run cost less for this size and I can switch from a dedicated snow (live in CT) back to the all season with ease.
I have level kit too and the tire size still looks good inside the wheel well. The 20's or larger with the skinny sidewall just looked silly to me on a truck this size.
There Z71 pkg is going to be offered next year (2016) on both the Tahoe and Suburban I read. Has 18's, wheel arches on the well like the last model, and some Z71 options that you might like.

We just bought ours 3 weeks ago, 4WD, LTZ, DVD, as you mention you want. We went back and forth on the 22's as well, in the end I found the ride trade off to be minmal, and it was outweighed by how much more we liked the 22's, so we did the bigger wheels and it's turned into one of our favorite features. We did the facorty 22's that were about $900 opposed to the dealer installed aftermarket $2400+ ones. No regrets. Also, make sure you get a build date after 10/4/14, easiest way to tell is the induction phone charger on the center armrest. That gets your several mid-year upgrades, including the foot activated power tailgate too. I asked about the 8sp, our dealer was totally in the dark on when/if they'd be getting that on the Burbs, so we went ahead now. 1700 miles so far and an average of 19mpg, mostly suburban city driving with a good road trip in there too, no complaints.
