Update after 1300 miles. Rear lift gate got stuck twice while going up. Motor kept pushing but gate wouldn't go higher. Upon closing it, it slammed shut after the sticking.
Air conditioning cold air stopped blowing 3 times on hot day, then smelled like old fish. Blower moved air but cold stopped.
Found small rust like looking spots all over white paint after washing it.
Motor making fluttering sound, really loud, like a pulley, maybe air conditioner?
Brought in for service today. Service writer said sound may be fuel injectors? I don't buy that. They have had it all day today and will have it all day tomorrow as well.
Wife not real happy, which makes my life unhappy. No other issues as of yet, happy with it but these items need to be fixed. I'm expecting the, "cannot duplicate" response. Hope not a sign of things to come.
If someone here has one, tell me if your motor makes that loud sound. Not normal, like an exhaust flutter or pulley. Still makes sound when turning air off.
More to follow....

The musty smell is due to putting the vehicle away wet so to speak... mold grows on the wet evaporator overnight... there is an after blow feature that can be used to help eliminate that but, risk battery drain
its best to turn the AC off a few blocks before your final destination and leave the air on to help dry out the evap coils....The rust spots are most likely rail dust, its from the rails and train wheels pulverized steel being blown over the vehicle while in transit... if left unaddressed it can pit the clear coat, using a clay bar on the vehicle can help remove it and of course regular washing and waxing... but it can also happen in daily driving in some areas...or just sitting out in industrial areas....
The fluttering sound depending on when it happens can also be the AFM, when only 4 cylinders are active it changes the exhaust note, some hear it some don't...
I understand about the musty odor and clearing it before shutting down, but this happened during a drive, well into a ride.
The sound was at idle in my driveway, the active fuel management hadn't kicked in there, running on all 8 cylinders. I started another one at the dealer today and it was smooth, no sound.
They told me that the lift gate had a software update, we'll see if that fixes it.
The paint issue makes sense, but I don't think it's for me to clay my Tahoe to clear it? I've done my truck before, PITA. They are having the body shop do it I guess, hopefully. Thank you for the response.

Saw a post re: rust spots and it was stated that it was caused not by "rail dust" but by "rail sparks" and could not be removed since it burned thru to the base coat. The fix was repaint.
I stand corrected on the idling, it does run on 4 cylinders. I have researched the sound and it seems to point to the direct injection making the noise. Some are louder than others, we'll see what the dealer says tomorrow and I will update here.
Are you sure it idles on four cylinders? I remember when AFM first came out, GM said it didn't because it would need very rough. I guess they could have figured it out by now.
Does it say V4 on the the DIC?

I get it back tomorrow after they clean the rust spots off the paint. They told me they didn't find an issue or error codes in regards to the engine noise or air conditioner. They said there was a bulletin about the rear hatch binding up a due to the air spoiler over the back window. There was a part they had to order to replace which is supposed to fix the hatch issue. I will look at the DIC and see what it says when it idles. I read that it drops to four cylinders but I will confirm tomorrow. I found numerous videos on youtube regarding the engine noise. It's in the 2014/15 Silverado, Sierra, Yukon, Tahoe and Suburban with the 5.3 and 6.2 motors. Some are extremely loud and they said its the Direct Injection and High pressure fuel pump. You can hear the noise in the videos, sounds like a sewing machine, clicking noise. I typed in 2014 Silverado engine noise and you'll get hits.
