Default 2015 Tahoe heated seates issue

We just bought a new 2015 Tahoe LT and the heated seats don't work very well when using the remote start but work better when turning them on with the switch inside. The dealer had it in their shop for several days checking this out before calling and telling us that GM turned them down because of burning the seats on the inside from getting too hot. The seats on the 2011 Tahoe we traded in worked a lot better when using the remote start. Anyone else heard of this?

Default liability?

if it's anything like my 09, the heated seats turn on when it's below 40 degrees outside the vehicle, when it's remote started.

as for the temp, I've never measured mine, however I have read lawsuits about heated seats being too hot and burning people.

it's a fine line between liability and functionality.

I don't know why they should be liable for you setting them to hot, but I'm generally an honest person.

The dealer is telling us that there is no way to change the temp setting on them and that they come on whenever the vehicle is started with the remote start and the temperature is under 50. I'm sure it is a liability thing too but they don't work as well as the 2011 model. This is my wife's daily driver and she is not happy about this at all but I guess she will have to deal with it. A company that installs aftermarket heated seats told me that he hears this complaint all the time and it's with all of the car manufacturers.

Default yep

interesting.

My friend's infinity has 8 settings for the heated seats. I thought that was over kill and my 3 levels were fine, but really 3 is too hot and 2 isn't hot enough...

lol

can't win. - Now you know - test EVERYTHING before you buy I guess.

Many after market places won't touch heated seats anymore...

Due to airbag sensors in the seats, if they didn't come OEM, they won't touch them due to liability.

My Jeep doesn't have heated seats, and I wish it did.

yea, it's a jeep, which is why the tops down and the doors are off, but a warm butt would kinda be nice.

the heater loses it's effectiveness around 20 MPH

A friend had a Jeep (~2008) and had a local shop put in seat heaters, no problem. Maybe they didn't have airbag sensors back then.

The seat heaters do not come on in my '13 Tahoe LT2 when I use the remote start. No biggie to me for when I get it and need to use them, they heat up nice and fast when they are activated.

I guess we are going to have to just put up with it. My wife is not happy about this and said she probably wouldn't have bought it if she would have know it. Otherwise it's really nice.

What is the setting your have them on when you remote start?
I didn't see anything in the 2015 owners manual about a reduced heat setting for remote start, only that they go off when the ignition is turned on...http://www.chevrolet.com/content/dam...ub1stPrint.pdf

Remote Start Auto Heated and
Cooled Seats

During a remote start, the heated or
cooled seats can be turned on
automatically. When it is cold
outside, the heated seats turn on,
and when it is hot outside the
cooled seats turn on. The heated or
cooled seats are canceled when the
ignition is turned on. Press the
heated or cooled seat button to use
the heated or cooled seats after the
vehicle is started.

Remote Start Auto Cooled Seats
If equipped and turned on, this
feature will turn the cooled seats on
when using remote start on
warm days.
Select Off or On.
Remote Start Auto Heat Seats
If equipped and turned on, this
feature will turn the heated seats on
when using remote start on
cold days.
Select Off or On.

I did find this very interesting under the "Battery Load Management"

The battery can be discharged at
idle if the electrical loads are very
high. This is true for all vehicles.
This is because the generator
(alternator) may not be spinning fast
enough at idle to produce all the
power that is needed for very high
electrical loads.

Default Horrible remote start heated seats

We bought this Tahoe the first week the dealer had one on lot. I had an 2008 Acadia SLT. It had all options...I decided that I wanted something a little bigger. But I am sadly disappointed with this Tahoe. It first began when I was told that it had heads up display that I just needed to turn it on. Well that is not the case. To get heads up display you must have the Denali version which is another 10k on price. So I've learned to deal with that but I'm more upset that when I remote start my car the heated seats don't heat the seats! Or cool them! I took mine in to dealer they looked at it and said they are working even though the lights aren't on. But I can't even tell that I've even remote started my car the heat doesn't even turn on the blower any higher that setting you left it on when you got out of it last and the seats aren't on! If I could I would get rid of this vehicle and go back to an older model! I am not pleased or impressed with is Tahoe. PS I've had this model for almost 2 years (it will be in march 2016)
