No bs, actually asking for a friend. SHE (that kind of friend) is having trouble finding a prt for her Suburban. She was told her steering gearbox needs replaced and she was told the repairs would be $5k plus. Any help or direction would be awesome. Dallas,Tx are.

rock auto has a new steering gear for $1000 canadian funds so probably $800 american. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...nd+pinion,7388
labour time to change the part is 2 hours including programming....$300 add $130 for a wheel alignment.
add in 1 to 2 hours $300 diagnosis and its not near $5000.

Show me the estimate so i can see what they are billing $5k for...maybe something is missing... modules??
