Default 2018 Suburban Electrical Power Loss

Hey Guys....New to the forum, thanks for having me.

I have a 2018 Suburban Premiere. A couple of nights ago, I was pulling into a gas station and the power in the vehicle flickered....dash lights, running lights, headlights, etc.....everything went black for a split second but it recovered and didnt die. Last night, pulling into my driveway, I lost all power long enough that it killed the engine. The car was completely dead for about 10 seconds, then it "rebooted" itself. I cranked it up, got a couple of prompts to open and close the driver and passenger windows and that was it. This is my wifes car that she uses to usher our kids around in, so I am especially nervous to let her in it in case this happens again while on the highway. I briefly check the battery connection tightness this morning with the car doors open, hoping I might could see a flicker of some sort, but everything was mechanically tight. Any known issues with this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Original battery? It might be on its way out. I've had battery's develop internal connection problems. Get the battery load tested first, a good battery is critical in computer-controlled vehicles. Just because the battery starts it doesn't mean it's healthy.

If not in the battery, would you then move to just cleaning up the electrical connections on battery and chassis ground? From there, would you think ignition switch?

Shell there are several possible causes for this sort of thing. You won't necessarily have the exact same issue as Justin. You need to follow the posted advice to determine the cause. Have your charging system (batter + alternator) load tested.

Default Suburban Loses Power

I have been having the same problem as the original post (JustinChandler). Were you able to track down the problem? I have a 2017 Chevrolet Suburban. It "hiccups" and/or quits all together. Everything stops. No electrical power. No engine. No power steering. It all goes. Sometimes it needs a restart, other times it's able to come back on its own. It's as if there is a short someplace. I can't find it. Mechanics can't find it.

Thank you,
Trent

Battery cable. Check both ends. Several years ago I had the cables replaced for a short.

Default Electronics shutting down

I am new to the forum but we bought a 2018 Suburban Premier in April and this same thing is happening to us. While driving things start to flicker and shut down. Anti-crash warning comes on. Computer screen goes black etc…. It happened 2 weeks ago and went totally black no power anywhere. Got stranded and had to tow it 2 hours home. The tow truck driver jumped it and said everything was checking out fine. Took it to our mechanic and he couldn’t find anything. Thought it might need a 170 amp alternator instead of 150 amp so he replaced the alternator with the larger one????? Ran well for 2 weeks and it happened again last night. Completely dead. Barely got it home. Total power loss. This time it rebooted itself and everything came back on while it was in the driveway. Any updates or info would help. I can’t have my wife and kids driving around with the fear that this could happen while going down the highway and have complete power loss. Any help or updates would be appreciated.
