2020 Suburban Running Boards stick
In any event that appears to have done the trick. But I am continuing to observe the operation and so far so good.
Sorry, still not understanding what you did. If you've set it for extended, they are going to be out all the time. They won't go back in even when you close the door. And when you open the door, they shouldn't move, right?
OK, rather than trust Chevy's menu english, and yours, I went and tried it myself. The 3 settings do this: Auto off=stowed all the time. Auto on=deployed when a door is opened, stowed when door is closed. Extended=always deployed. There are NOT two versions of deployed (extended). So back to my original point, your running boards could not be cured and working normally with "extended" chosen. They would be always down, deployed, extended. All the same thing.
So I went back and tried it myself. You are correct. Extended does mean always deployed. Mine are not always deployed. They are on auto. I'm not sure why that after setting it to extend initially and then back to auto my running boards have been working. I sincerely thought that the extended setting lowered them more than normal and that was causing the passenger side to work. Apologies for the bad advice.
Since the dealer likely won't do anything about running boards that work I'll have to wait until they malfunction again before taking them to the dealer.
