2021 Suburban 5.3 Engine Noise
I purchased a 2021 Suburban SRT Dec. 19 and on Feb. 19 I noticed a ticking noise coming from the engine (4,927 miles). While driving the vehicle home it was hesitating or misfiring at around 3,000 RPM's. The check engine light came on and the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) light came on as well. I just had it towed to the dealer today.
Has anyone had any similar issues and if so what was the diagnosis?

I had a similar issue except instead of the check engine light and ESC light, it was the service traction control and ESC light. Also was making noise during shifting like a 'clunk' noise. Towed to the dealer and they said it is a collapsed lifter in one of the cylinders. Looks like this is becoming an issue as the service manager said it was the second he'd seen so far, and we live in a smaller town. What happened with your situation?
The check engine light came on and the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) light came on as well. The dealer has replaced the engine cap 3 times now going on my 4th, once again going to pay thousand to get it repair Chevrolet isn’t reliable anymore a HORRIBLE SUV 2021 Suburban 120k miles and 4 times with engine cap/ head replaced
My understanding is the failed lifters are due to the DFM (Dynamic Fuel Management) feature that turns cylinders off on certain V8 engines. Some folks say that if you disable the DFM feature, it will reduce the odds of failure, but apparently that is not 100% true. The fact is, they've had these issues on 2014-2024 models, and can't get it right yet.
Personally if I had a GM V8 with DFM, I would pay for a DFM disable "dongle" that plugs into the ODB2 port as one of the first things I did to that vehicle.... Just my 2 cents though.
