Default Engine noise?
i got an 03 with a 5.3 and I got a ticking noise that comes and goes its not constant. Sounds like a lifter but I dont know why it goes away then comes back. Any ideas?

Probably piston slap. Chevy engines of that vintage are prone to do it. Mine did it and never gave me any problems. Not even at 175,000 miles.
