So do you think just replacing this will fix it? I've seen other sites where an owner had same problem, got it fixed, then 1000 miles later had same problem again. Is there a way to avoid that? Also...... why do you think this is happening? I'm a bit afraid to drive a car that already has an issue like this after only 3800 miles.

As my first post, I want to say I'm sorry to hear of these issues.

It just blows my mind that this has been going on since they started the AFM with the 5.3's and you would think after more than 10 years they could figure it out.

Honestly, the AFM is a JOKE! Once in V4 mode, the slightest touch on the accelerator pedal returns the engine to all 8 cylinders. Maybe it's different for the 2021 models but all the AFM motors I have driven only work in basically a coast mode.

Range AFM eliminator in my '11 5.3 Tahoe. 121k miles now and no issues. Only full synthetic oils in it. Lost 1-2 mpg highway depending if flat or hilly but worth it to me for dependability. I've got other less fuel using vehicles to use if needed.
Eliminator has been installed in it since I got it at 35k miles.

3700 miles and I experienced the same issue. went into dealer 3 days ago and they say it may be 2-3 weeks looking for parts. Not happy.

Are these 5.3's or the 6.2's ? Everyone is posting but no engine size being said. Was thinking about a '21 but maybe keeping my '11 is a smarter move right now.

This is my third suburban too. This new one has been towed to the dealer 2x in the 4 months I've owned it. Lifter issue presented itself at the tail end of a road trip. I've asked Chevy to buy it back. What I've read is that I'm bound to have repeat lifter failures. I need this thing to be reliable. Hope you get your issues resolved too.
