I've looked all over and tried everything I can think of (rebooted the system, Etc.) but my google won't connect to use the maps or google Assistant. Must be an easy fix. Any help would be appreciated.

 

Is your head unit connected to the internet? What are you using for wifi? We had a loaner for a 4 day weekend 2 years ago and without the head unit connected to wifi we couldn't get the google apps to work. Have you activated the complimentary wifi that came with your new vehicle?

Setting up a hotspot every time we got ready to drive was too much trouble so we ended up using CarPlay/Android Auto and all was fine.

 

I had this same issue on my 2025 Tahoe RST. Purchased End of Nov 2024, worked perfectly fine. 2 weeks later it stopped working. When I connected my phones hotspot to Tahoe, everything worked perfectly. Took it to the dealership, they ran some diagnostics and said on star wasn't connecting to the internet. First step was to replace the antenna...this did not fix the issue. 2nd step was to replace the On Star module which the dealership said it was backordered until mid Feb but it came in within 3 weeks and got it installed. Everything worked once the module was replaced. It was not a fun process and many trips to the dealership to get it figured out but they were super helpful and understanding my frustration with a brand new vehicle having issues.

Beginning in 2025, Tahoes come with free Connectivity to run Google and other apps for 8 years. Prior to 2025, this was not the case and customers had to purchase an on star plan.

 

Does the 8 years free include Google Maps? I purchased a 2025 Tahoe RST in December 2024. Google assistant stopped working and when I try to use maps it says I need a plan. I click shop plans, and it just spins forever. Do I need a plan for Goolge Maps, or is that included in the 8 years?
