GoldenGirl, I more accurately identified the update above.

as for the 'age' of maps; just graph an ipad to your dash, and you will have map updates!

if you want really up to date maps, use Waze, which actually allows you to add roads!

Sabr any new roads you have seen since using the new 7.0 disk? I currently have the 6.0 so dont know if it will be worth it or just wait till the next one comes out. I assume you sold your previous disk?

I don't see any changes.... but I can only vouch for the few roads I use, most of which are already on there. If everywhere you drive is on your current map, save your $200.00

Several years ago I discussed the lack of up-to-date info on the DVDs and the rep stated that they rely on local agencies to forward updated road info to them. Well that works well, not. What a crock. $75 Garmin has this POS system beat.

We are blessed here at CF, with a few fine GM mechanics, who

gracefully and tirelessly assist us here with their personal

experience, time, and effort.

That said, I have to admit I am also, at many times, horrified or

disgusted at the apparent lack of tech support by GM Corporate...

Since the 2012 Nav is hard drive based, are the DVDs compatible w/ earlier years?

Question

So how do you figure out what year - part number - version the nav system is? I ask as my 2011 Equinox had to have the entire system - radio, computer, harddrive, etc - replaced and I'm not sure what version they installed.
