22's or 24's, GOT EM? PLEASE READ!
I just got my 24" wheels. I had previously talked to the dealer about updating my computer and runing Tech II. However today, I talked to the manager and he said that there isnt a GM VCI for anything larger than 20" wheels.
So, if you have 24's did your dealer do any programing to the vehicle? If so what did they do?

They can update the computer but the question is do they want to. I spoke to a dealer in my area (NJ) before I purchased my wheel package and the said they could do the reprogram. I was told it was a 2 hour service. They did tell me that they can't change tires or do wheel balances on wheels larger than factory 20's. Usually the service departments say no when they don't know how to do something........

My dealer said there is no GM VCI for 24" wheels. Therefore they said they couldnt update the vehicle for tire size or anthing.
Has everyone had the same problem? the dealer cant update the vehicle to correct the odometer/speedometer?

well theres alot of tuning options out there if you want an easy way to tune for 24" wheels get the superchips or diablo programmers... if you want to go deeper into the brain of your tahoe get HPTUNERS its a lil more involved but way better to have full manual control of the PCM
These aftermarket programmers do not have the correct calibrations and algorithm for the StabiliTrak system, they simply correct the speedometer which is normally not a very big issue as the OD of the larger tire/wheel are normally within an 1/8 of an inch of stock.

Dave,
Thanks for the info on the stabilitrak. Since there isnt a VCI for 24" wheels is the Diablo Sport of Superchips Flashpaq worth getting? I know you have said before you arent a fan, but what about my instance?
I have had a Superchips Flashpaq on a Hemi, and I liked the difference it made. It had firmer shifts, better throttle response, and it sure had "felt" like it was quicker. I actually always just used the 87 octane program also!
If it wouldnt be a bad idea in my case, is the Diablo of Superchips the better one? I havent had the Diablo so any info on it would be great.

To elaborate on what Dave said re: tire/wheel. If the OD of your 24" tire wheel package is within 1/8" of original, then there's no need to recal speedo as it basically sees no difference.
I am not worried about the speedo/odometer as much as I am the rest. The VCI codes change the braking, tranny shifts, etc. Since there isnt a VCI for 24's I thought maybe the programmer may help with the shifts points and acceleration.
