Your right. There is a big difference between 315/30/26's and 305/35/24's.

I was comparing the 305/30/26, since this is the most popular size i've seen.

I've never seen anyone run a 315/30/26. It should be obvious to everyone that that tire is too big.

26's with minimal clearance issues requires you run a 305/30/26 rubberband.

dtme46,

Going 24 to 26 isn't going to reduce your wheel gap.
You'll just have more rim and less tire.

Want less gap... drop more.

So after only 1 day here are my observations about the converstion from stock wheels/tires to 26's..

[ol][*]Definitely notice sloooooow starts off the line, guess it takes much more torque to get those beasts rolling. Wondering if I should have gone Denali instead of the LT3 to get the bigger motor + 6 speed instead of Flexfuel - basically they are the same price.[*]At highway speeds it's much less likely to kick into V4 mode?!!? Even a moderate downhill w/cruise control on.[*]Ride quality is as expected, not bad but noticeably choppier then stock. Definitely acceptable in my opinion.[*]Clearance. No major problems thus far, heard minimal rubbing when entering steep driveways at low speed or when turning hard at low speeds. I suspect a little fender well trimming may be required, more updates to come.
[/ol]26's without lowering is by far the way to go. Still have clearance for when I need to go into 4WD, and the fender wells fill out really nicely. I couldn't imagine the ride quality with big wheels AND lowering springs... Save the $$ on the lowering kit (and alignment) and get 26's

You might try a heat gun on fender liners before cutting. Sounds like it won't take much. Others on this forum have reported that the heat gun approach works well.
