Hey Chevere wow, with 26"s I am sure the unsprung weight is up there. I myself am looking at ordering a 4x4 Tahoe with the 4.10 and then adding forged 22"s made by Centerline. The wheels weigh roughly 35 lbs, which for truck wheels, is light. Just a thought, they even claim a 3 to 4 mpg increase with using their 20"'s over stock SUV wheels. But also don't forget that tires add unsprung weight also, which when taken with the wheel weight, could negate the benefits, so pick the best low weight tire for your needs.
Hope this helps.

I'm kinda on the "Short Yellow Bus" when it comes to all this.
What exactly is switching to the 4.10 gonna do?
Is the dealer the only place to buy this?
And is "this" the actual gears?
Bare with me... This is way to much to take in all at once. It's like a buffet in this forum!

Rockstar,
4:10 is the actual gear ratio. What it will do from your current 3:73's or whatever you have is that its going to give you a lower gear ratio changing the shift points andproviding a more torque/power feeling. It isnt going to create more power, it will feel like it. It will also increase fuel mileage. ZX has stated that the 4:10's are actually the most fuel efficient gear ratio. He can probably provide more detail on this, it is in another thread somewhere. I am no expert, but I have changed out some gears on some mustangs i have had.
Ideally you would want to get the gears from the dealership as it is a very cheap addition to add the 4:10's from the factory, I dont recall the exact amount but I think it is under $100 addition.
If you are wanting to change the gears you have in your current Tahoe I would imagine most mechanics can do the swap. I would personally have GM do it on this new of a vehicle for warranty purposes.
I have a 4wd, so I would have to change the gears in the front and rear. In previous discussions this wasnt cost effective. However, if you have a 2wd just changing the rear gears wont be to bad. If mine was 2wd it would already be done!
Anyone who wants to add some more technical/statistical information please chime in.
