4 wheel drive diagnostic problem!
Well, I'm an idiot. ha, plain and simple. Here's a quick rundown... bought my 1999 Tahoe back in '06. 4WD was working at the time and ended up malfunctioning at some time. Also didn't know the "service 4WD" indicator bulb was missing. Should have checked there first right? Anyways, rather than just paying GM to diagnose the problem, I just went on a spending spree and basically started replacing parts. (Front axel shifting solenoid, transfer case actuator, all fluids.) NOTHING. The lights on the push-button 4x4 switch will light up on ignition turn, then a few seconds later, they would all turn off (I hear that's common). I get voltage to both the actuator and solenoid when I press the buttons though. I've basically narrowed it down to either the switch itself or the 4 wheel drive control module. Could it be one of these two things ONLY? Or am I missing something? OH, and I've of course replaced the bulb for the service 4x4 indicator. The light remains on. I don't know where to find a CHASSIS code reader since the OBDII doesn't pick up any codes. HELP! Or, should I just swallow my pride and let GM tell me I need to pay for overhead priced parts?
THANKS IN ADVANCE!
