Default 4WD/Check Engine Problem (2005 Tahoe Z71)

This morning when I started the truck, I was greated both of the following:

- A check engine light
- The 4WD selector switches only blink when pressed (Auto, 2H, 4H, 4L), and the Netural light is lit.

Does this combination indicate anything in particular? I assume some sort of electronics problem with a transfer case controller or something similar.

Any harm driving the car like this? The front axle drive is not engaged, so I'm not overly concerned. I have a 200 mile commute home Friday...

Thanks!

For what its worth, the gear selector was in 2HI after I left work today, and worked properly. Just like nothing happened.

Still have the CEL though.

Most auto parts stores w/ pull your codes for free. Might point in the right direction.

Pulled the code last night. P0446 - EVAP....so I don't think that's related to the 4WD problem.

Since that morning, everything behaved fine...
