5.3 liter belt noise?
Just picked up a '10 Suburban with super low miles. We traded in our '08 Silverado 1500 crew cab. I never really liked the truck, but really like the Suburban.
Two noises in the same place....I hate noises!
First noise: Cold start, left side front fender well standing outside. Sounds like small bearings in a can being swirled around. After 20-30 seconds the sound is gone. It doesn't sound too critical, but I am mostly curious. At first I thought it could have been the freon in the lines for the rear evap, but that's on the passenger side and I hear it mostly from the driver's side, although I have not stood on the passenger side yet, so if that is it, it may be louder there.
Second noise: Warm engine, constant. Driver's side again, sounds like a light tap almost exhaust leak type. It's not an injector solenoid noise, and I sprayed silicone on the belt with no change. It does not sound like internal engine noise, and it is not a knock...it is more of a tap.
I thought I might take the belt off and see if this solves the problem. I don't hear it too much from the top side, but standing next to the front wheel well it is very obvious.
We still have the majority of the bumper to bumper warranty, but I hate the dealer.......I like to do my own stunts.
Any ideas? BTW, the Silverado with the same engine didn't produce the same sounds, so this is why I am concerned and asking.....
Thanks so far.

Welcome to the forum.
There have been some reports of cold start lifter noise for a short period of time. Personally, I'd take it in if for no other reason than to get the problems documented.

I have that lifter noise too, well had it. I changed the belt and the noise went away to a large degree. I changed the belt and all the squealing and rattling went away. The guy I got the truck from even bought new rocker arms for it but never put them on. Odd? I think the 6 grooves on the pulley and cracks in the belt can give you these "idiot light" sounds to get the owner to replace.
