Default 5.7 Vortec Performance...... Restrictor Plate?

Hey guys, I'v been searching around for ways to increase the performance of my Tahoe and someone mentioned that the 5.7 Vortecs where equiped with a throttle body restrictor plate.... Anyone have any ideas on this? or how to remove it?

Also is there any air silencers ect that can be removed to increase performance and sound? I'm looking for anything quick and easy before I start getting into the more complex things. Unfortunately I'm stuck in underground parking so it makes things interested I was thinking of custom building a ram-air system for it, I already have installed a K&N filter in the stock box.

I'm open to ideas, and if anyone in Ontario Canada is selling a nice set of rims please let me know

The restrictor plate is easy to remove and is positioned just behind the throttle wottle accumulator.
The silencer is a little trickier to get at and remove (but well worth the effort), it is a black box attached to the front of the headlight fluid reservoir.
These two mods will increase your power at least 50HP so hold on to your hat.

I think you two need to check the O-Rings on your fluttinator valves, because you are obviously suffering for a dripping headlight reservoir due to rectal crainial inversion.

Anyone have a serious answer to this?

After listending to those two I completely understand why the ford guys stereotype most chev drivers as ******. Why would you waste your time typing crap out like that rather than attempting to be serious and help someone out?

There is no "serious answer to this" that's the whole problem.

Hey there NASCAR fan, you're the one asking about how to remove a fictitious "restrictor plate" not us, and most of us “Chev drivers” probably don't care all that much about what the "Ford guys" are saying anyhow.

Ok well let me re-word this then, The butterfly in the throttle body apparently is restricted in its motion, not alowing it to open all the way causing a slight retriction in airflow into the intake manifold. I have seen TB's available on the market claiming to have had this issue resolved and I was looking to see if I could easily do this on my own without trashing my TB. I'll look later on to see if I can post the link to the site selling said TB's.

I can honestly say I'v never really watched nascar

Interesting but notable is their failure to document any hp gains. At least K&N gives a specific gain at a RPM. Of course that it is at redline where it does very little good goes unnoticed. Also remember that getting more air in only helps if the cam and exhaust allow it to get thru. Just a thought.

Has anyone done this. It sounds easy, but I'm concerend over computer errors that might occur. More detailed instructions too if available.

Thanks!!

Save your money, this modified throttle body won't do anything other than lighten your wallet by $50 smacks.
The bottleneck in the intake track is not at the throttle body on these motors.
