'85 Tailgate power window not closing fully - spring backwards?
Just got a '85 Suburban and fixing a few things on it. The rear window won't close fully, it stops with 2cm's to go.
I pulled out the window, motor, regulator etc and cleaned it up. It works a little bit better.
What I found strange is that the regulator spring gets tensioned when the window goes up. So the motor has to work against the gravity of the window and the spring.
Would make more sense to me that the spring would help the motor lift the window instead of working against it. When opening it also drops down very fast, probably due to the spring.
Can it be the the previous owner put the spring on backwards?!
Thanks!
