Hi all,

I purchased a 91 Suburban V1500 about a year ago and have started restoring it as well as fixing random issues I’ve found. So far, radiator, fuel pump and harness, fuel relay, fuel filter and ICM. I noticed this week when my temp gauge was fluctuating while driving, so I changed that due to the old one being rusted. I’m waiting on the connector and wiring to come in the mail to change that as well, since the original one is pretty beat up. I also noticed that the oil pressure gauge sits past 60 when idling and will fluctuate when accelerating but eventually give me a correct reading but then shoot past 60 when I come to a stop. I’m going to take a look at the oil pressure sensor, oil/filter change and clean out the TBI to see if that helps. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this issue. I’ve finally been able to drive it and yesterday while driving home from work I felt a slight rough idle in the engine and the service engine soon light came on so I pulled over and checked the oil since it’s been sitting for a few months, but everything looks good. When I fired the engine back up, the light was off and had no further issues. Just looking for any advise or similar experiences. Thanks!

 

Sounds like you got your temp sensor figured out. As far as the oil pressure goes... sounds like the sensor is skewed. However, the only real good way to see what your oil pressure actually is, is to attach a manual gauge to it and road test it.

 

Thank you. That’s the next step when I can find time after work. Any recommendations for OEM parts or aftermarket that actually fit? I’m having issues finding an oil pressure sensor switch and harness that have the correct pin setup. Same thing with the temp sensor and harness. I ended up just switching that out for a second time once I found a connecting pair.

OEM oil pressure sensor part # is 19244500. It's a 3 terminal sensor.

 

Coolant temp sensor part # is 25037332.

 

Coolant temp sensor connector part # is 88862305. The part numbers i gave you are all GM OEM part numbers. Sorry but I can't find a part number for the oil pressure sensor connector.
