I'm having a problem with the headlights... all other lights work. I have replaced the headlight switch and someone told me to wiggle the dimmer switch (switch it from high to low beam). Nothing...

Haven't started checking with a voltmeter yet. Just wanted to check and see if anyone had any ideas before I dive in.

The VM will give you the best info, checking at the headlamp and then back through the circuit... check for a fuse or circuit breaker as most head lights are on a breaker so that they will come back on once the circuit cools....
May also need to check the column switch for the high beam as it could be a possible issue...

 

I took the dimmer switch off today and checked it with a voltmeter. The switch was bad.. center terminal had power at the connector (center terminal) so when I checked the switch it should have continuity between the center terminal and one of the two other terminals on the switch (ie. High & low beam). It did not do this.... I went and bought another switch ($14) at Advanced Auto and that switch performed as I expected from above. I connected the connector to the new switch and manually pressed the switch to change the high/low beams and all worked well. It was a mild PITA to get the switch off. The lower nut was a 3/8 nut on a stud however the upper was a 5/16 screw.... why car makers do this is beyond me! Anyway.. its fixed now.
