Default 93 Suburban questions

I am looking to buy a 93 suburban and had a few questions. It is a 2500 4x4 with a 454. I noticed in the engine bay there is a thing attached to the brake master cylinder that the guy said had something to do with the power steering. I am really not sure what it is but it appears to have a slow leak because it is oil coated around it and on the hoses below it, what would this be so I can guage a replacement price.

I am trying to find out if the price is fair for the vehical. He wants $4500 for it I checked kelly blue book and edmunds and came up with a substantially different prices. This is what I know about it, it is a 2500 with a 454 automatic(showing some fluid leakage supposed to be a line leak), the body is in fairly good condition, the engine has a ticking type noise that I am fairly sure is a exhaust manifold the oil pressure seems ok, the brake booster thing leak,,,overall I would call it mechanically in fair condition I guess, and the body in good condition the interior in fair condition. It has 160000 miles on it. It was used to tow a camper. The guy is the original owner and it hasnt been in any wrecks. I guess I dont want to seem like a jerk to the guy because i causually know him I was going to offer him 3500 for it edmunds was around $2500 and kelly was $3800 in fair condition.

Howdy fellow,

The Tonawanda 454 is a workhorse. I recommend you get it. The engine/tranny alone are worth about $6,000 around virginia. That particular part you refer to is the "anit-lock brake" and it uses power steering fluid from the reservoir connected to the power steering filler neck.

I had to get mine replaced but use OEM equipment from GM. Those after market ones may fit but don't work as advertised.

Do you have dual air on that one? I also put Gabriel Hi-Jackers on the rear that are air adjustable and my rig corners tight and holds the road without sway.

I have many more tips for ya...just ask

I bought my 454 K2500 SUB with rear limited slip differential last fall for $3400.00 USD and it only had 138000 miles on it. If there is a leak, I would find out the price of the new part and start working the price down. Check for other leaks too. Let the rig warm up and check the engine and underit, temperature etc... Don't like the idea that there is a noise coming from the engine, Beware!
Good luck.
