hi, i need some help with my 95 suburban i put a new cam, heads(vortec), intake(to accept vortec), and gear drive. I got it all togather and it seems to be spittin fuel from the throtle body and its making a mumble in the muffler. today for the frist time it back fired and later the Throtle body caught a little fire. i think its timming weve pulled the distributor and had the motor at TDC and pointed the dist. at the #1 piston and i put the cap on and attempted agian while we were trying to crank it over i was adjusting the dist. cap which helped alittle plz if you could tell me if theres something i could to to diagnous this or maybe a soulution

Have you checked the timing w/ a timing lite?

 

Sounds like valve timing maybe off.
