Could be your MAF also. Mine went on and off a few times and now it's on for the most part. Run to Autozone and let them scan it for free. That will give you a better idea where to start the search.

pulled a vacuum line that runs to the air condition, while it was idleing up and down and it smoothed out alot. it seems like its not getting enough air. also when its doing that i smell a strong gas odor all around the truck. like its getting to much gas and not enough air. what would cause it to not get enough air? would it have anything to do with oxygen sensors?

Could be a temp sensor causing it to run open loop, it wll think it's cold and make it run rich.
