97 K2500 Surges or cuts out when going uphill

Drives just fine except when about 1/2 way up a hil and when trying to accelerate at freeway speeds. Usual acceleration like getting on the freeway is just fine. 250K miles. Any ideas.

about 6000 miles ago

have fuel pressure tested. should be 55-60 if memory serves. run a compression test as well, and look at plugs to check for any damage or gunk.

Fuel pump

It is almost like the symptoms when the fuel pump went out except that surging occurred at low speeds under acceleration also. I'm going to change the fuel filter tomorrow also. Thanks.
