i just bought a 97 tahoe 2 door with the vortec 5700. the check engine light is on due to the previous owner hollowing out the catyletic converter. so, since i need this truck to pass an emmissions test in my state and i dont want to stare at the ce light glowing at me continously here's my question. can i disable the ce light and turn off the rear oxygen sensor with a diablo sport predator tuner?

 

Why not spend that money toreplace the cat? if they tailpipe test it with a cored cat it will fail, than and they plug in a reader to see what emmissions readings the computer has...
I bet you could pick up a used one pretty inexpensive from a junk yard should be all bolted no welds..

 

Good plan! Also probably need to replace the downstream O2 sensor.

 

i found a company that sells o2 sims for $40 a pair. i'm going that route first. my exhaust is welded at the joints so replacing the cats would be a real bi#&*. and, i kinda dig the sound with the hollowed out cats.
