Default 99 k2500 5.7 would like more snort

Any ideas on gaining a little bit of bottom end snort? I'm not talking racing here. Just a little more umph! Realizing it is a 3/4 ton and with the gears there is only so much I can do but thought I'd ask and see what you guys come up with. The ol girl has 250,000 miles on it and I have been keeping a steady diet of maintenance on her.

I don't want to put a new motor in it cause there is really nothing wrong with it. Other than old and tired. New motor would probably be the only way I'll get more towing power?

Thanks guys

That's a 6,500 lb. vehicle with a 250 HP V8 that puts out decent, but not huge, torque. Even when not tired that's a lot of vehicle to move with a 5.7. You can probably get power with aftermarket tunes but really with those miles I'd say just stay with it as is.

Does it have 4.10 gears? I know you could get the 7.4 V8 with 3.73, not sure about the 5.7. If you have 3.73 a front/rear gear swap to 4.10's would make it tow quite a bit better but your highway rpms would obviously be a bit higher.

Thanks for the reply. I do have the 4:10 gears with higher RPMs on the highway while pulling. It does have high miles. Sounds like I will leave the ol girl the way she is. Really didn't want to change anything unless there was something easy. You just concluded my thoughts really. I'd hate to start messing with it at this mileage. It's been a good rig really so maybe if she gives out I will then do an engine swap. In the meantime I'll be stick with regular oil changes and typical maintenance. Thanks
