Assuming that the battery cables and battery terminals are clean and tight: (1) Post voltage across the battery terminals. (2) Then measure/post that same voltage across the battery terminals while the key is turned to the "Start" position for 5 seconds.

This would apply to any vehicle....No DC voltmeter/multimeter??? GET ONE, or have it towed to a shop.

My '99 Yukon. same drivetrain, the braided connector from the starter motor to its solenoid corroded away on me causing a no start. Salt zone driving got to it.

Drove my 93 Sub to the hardware store, time to go home and nothing turning the key. Found a wire had broken off the starter.

Mid-2021, my own 1988 Mazda truck was having similar intermittent no-cranking situation, otherwise cranked started fine. I TESTED its clutch pedal safety switch (fine) and the ignition switch (fine), cleaned the battery terminals again, even swapped out my 34-month old battery for a brand-new one as it had 2-months remaining on replacement warranty. None of these fixed the intermittent cranking issues.

The fix? I took off the negative cable attachments to the engine, the body, and frame and cleaned everything up with wire wheel/drill, steel wool, etc., and reconnected. All fixed, 6 months now and no more failure to crank/start.
