ABOUT TO NE A NEW TAHOE OWNER!!!
Well I'm about to become the proud owner of my 1st Chevy Tahoe.
Found it at a Dealership .
Its a 96 Chevy Tahoe 2 door 4X4.
I was looking for a full size Blazer/Tahoe/Jimmy in my price range as a "Daily Driver".
Something that is reliable/warm/Clean and Dry.
The dealership was fantastic!
They had JUST got this as a Trade- in 2 days ago, so it hadn't been Saftey Inspected, Smogged or detailed.
I went down with the wife and drove it, (dirty and all) and loved it!
There were a few things wrong with it.
1)Needed 4 new tires.
2)Needed a New front windshield.
3)Needed a new Drivers side electric mirror.
4)The Drivers Leather seat stitched up (small tear).
5)New top on the center console.
6)Interior/Exterior Detailing.
The dealership was helpful and we did the paperwork there and the Truck "should"
be ready by next Thursday!
;^)
Anyone that would like to share there "Pro's & Cons" and/or experience with THEIR Tahoe,
I'd love to hear from you.
Now people (including the Dealership) say that the Tahoe 2 Doors are rare and get snatched up FAST.
Is this true and if so, just how rare are they, (production numbers)?
================================================== =========================
SEPERATE QUESTION:
P.S. I'm going to be taking another "test Drive" before I drive it away next week and was wondering, how can I test the 4WD function?
I know everyone seems to say NOT to drive on dry pavement!
Is there anyway I can do this in a parking lot at EXTREMLY LOW SPEEDS , to listen for noise?
Being new to 4X4, if I'm driving and encounter snow and want to engage from 2WD to 4WD HI, can I just push the button on the dash as long as I'm UNDER a certain speed?
If so, what IS that speed?
Also the same question for 4WD LO.

A good dealer should offer a warranty (Limited Most Likely to major repairs) for at least 90 days. I would also have your own mechanic check it over at your expense before you accept delivery. A dealer that has nothing to hide will not have a problem letting your own guy check it out. Good Luck
I dont know what you paid but i know where there is a 98 or 99 with 75000 miles leather loaded not a scratch on it for 10 k but yeah they dont sit on a lot long i bought a 94 and did a little cosmetic work to it sold it a couple weeks later at 2500 profit
To test 4WD, drive slowly in a parking lot or field where you can drive in a figure 8, this will give you an indication if all of the U-joints are functioning properly. Note that if you are on a hard, dry surface, there will be some jerkiness felt.
