Advice on 8th Gen Shopping
Hello All. Going to look tomorrow at a 99 k1500. It's a very clean LT, current sticker and everything works, about 1/3 of the going rate in my area. However it "needs a heater core and has an overheating issue." The seller is pretty bad and doesn't seem to be mechanically inclined. I did gather that they took it to a shop, weren't willing to spring for the repair, and decided to sell.
Looks like the core is a simple replacement and I'm fine going through a cooling system. But anything I should be on the lookout for? Are Vortecs known to blow gaskets, etc? This will be my first Suburban and first Vortec.
Thanks in advance!

is still going strong, along with the radiator and most every thing else for that matter. No sense in buying a vehicle that has probably not been maintained, to me anyhow.
My Vortec head gaskets have not leaked, and I dont think its an issue, at least on the older Chevrolet's. Quality control in all manufacturing has really taken a dive the last
15 years or so, IMO.
