Default Air Conditioning Valve Cores

On a '98 Tahoe are the A/C high and low port valve cores replaceable or do you have to replace the hard line? I see that Rockauto sells a kit so I assume that they are but I thought I should check before spending the money on them.

The reason I question if they are is that my '03 Dodge Ram has the valve set into the hard line.

They bolt off of the line with a special socket. If you are very careful you could do it with pliers. You can get the valves from the dealer for less then $10.00 each.

I'm not sure I understand you exactly about the term "they bolt off of the line with a special socket".

From looking at pictures of parts on Rockauto's website I can see where the high side port could be removed. I was hoping to do it without losing the charge though.

I have a valve core removal tool. I just can't figure out which valve cores I need from Rockauto's site.

The valve core is not changable. The piece the ac gauges connects to un screws from the line. There is no way to do it without loseing the charge

MD - Is that true for both high and low side connectors? I ask because I have already ordered the high side connector from Rockauto but they do not carry the low side connector that I can tell.

Thank you for your help.
