Default Air Filter

Is anyone using Chevy Filters? Or would it be better or cheaper to go with Fram? My dealer wants $30 for the filter.

Also, is it ok to replace stock filter with a K&N filter...not change the intake, just the filter itself? I thought I read somewhere that someone said this would void the warranty...I can't imagine this is the case, but just wanted to make sure.

Does it void your warranty to install a volantcold air filter? It looks almost the same as the GM performance part, but with different badging.

Find a Gm dealer who will sell you near wholesale. THere are plenty out there.

K&N will not void the warranty neither will the Volant intake.

As far as the paper element air filter goes, the OEM AC/Delco unit is a very good piece but most all of the aftermarket (Fram, Purolator etc) filters are fine and will do a good job.

There was a post I was reading the other day in another category discussing filters, intakes, etc. One post made was pumping up the true flow filters which are foam, and much thicker than the standard filters. I was checking outtheir website and thought the product looked pretty good. Here's the website
http://www.trueflow.com/
Has anyone had any experience with this product? How does it compare with K&N and the other more well known brands?

I'm really shocked there isn't more talk of K&N Filters. I figured that would be the most popular of filters out there...

ZX,

I've heard that the oil fron K&N & other oiled filters can leave residue on your mass airflow sensor and eventually effect it's performance. What's your take on this? Do you know of a good high flow dry panel filter?

Thanks in advance.

You can get an AC/D filter at almost any good parts house for a little less than the dealer.
As for a K&N drop in panel filter, you can get one for about $40 about anywhere. Check ebay you might get one for about $20. I have run the K&N dropins and was very pleased with them. On all the vehicles I have used them in, all got a slight increase (less than 5 MPG) in fuel mileage. Another PLUS from the K&N is that it smoothed out throttle response and minimized flat spots. The K&N filters are econimical as they basically pay for them self in about 2 paper filter changes.
Some people have experienced CEL from excessive oil on the filters. In over 100K miles I have NEVER had any problem on any of the vehicles they are installed on.

I'd like to hear more from K&N filters as when I was looking most of the private sellers were bragging they had K&N filters in there.
