Any changes made to the Suburban between the '09-10 model years?
My family is planning on buying a newer model Suburban to replace our '99 Suburban 1500 LS 2wD. We are planning to buy the 4wD version this time since we have encountered more than one situation where 4wD would have been helpful (we own a cabin in Calaveras County, CA, and that area tends to either be smothered with snow/ice or incredibly hilly and "dirty").
I have been researching the current model Suburban (2012-2013 models are out, the '99 was the only car we have ever bought brand new, won't make the same mistake twice). Don't get me wrong, the '99 was an amazing car, it has 118k on the clock and we have been it's only owner, but it's beginning to show it's age (we had to rebuild the transmission back in January when it unexpectedly fell apart on us mid road trip, luckily my uncle's auto shop happened to be 2 miles away at the time, so we didn't have to have it towed far) and we are gonna need the 4WD.
My question is this, is there any true difference between the '09-10 models (those particular models are within our price range right now). We don't want to go with anything older than an '09 because of the huge amount of changes made to it (new 6-speed transmission, etc.)?
From what I've read, the only real difference between the '09-10 models are the new audio systems with standard USB ports that are on the '10s, and also that they are assembled in Texas instead of Silao, Mexico.
Here are the articles I read that seem to verify this: 2007-2011 Chevrolet Suburban: Year-to-Year Changes - Consumer Guide Automotive

Welcome to the forum.
My 2010 has cooled seats and trailer brake controller. Don't know if they were available on the '09s. And I think the '10s w/ LTZ had the hitch close-out cover.

So if I understand correctly, aside from the new USB ports in the '10, the '09 is basically identical to the '10.
We do own a few "I-Go" USB converters we can use in the car to charge Ipods and the like if we have to. I honestly do not believe that having built-in USB ports is worth the extra $$$ (thousands) for a '10 when we can just get an '09 and have more or less the same Suburban.

Nope guys,
09 HAS cooled seats, brake controller, improved hitch cover, Bluetooth and the 6 speed. (not all standard mind you).
I have an '09. and that's why I chose it over the 08.
10 adds USB port, and optional 22s.
the Avalanche being dropped also adds fuel to the fire of an all new 2014 Tahoe.
Sadly for GM however, I will be looking elsewhere. I'm considering selling mine and leasing a Q7.
