Auto running board issue
New to the forum. I have an 09 Ltz suburban. The driver side running board makes a grinding noise when it trie to open. It doesn’t open. And the automatic rear hatch stopped opening and closing with the the push of the button. Is there an easy non dealer fix

Welcome from Florida. Are you saying it makes a grinding noise when you try to open the door? If so the running board might be bent upwards. Check all your fuses first of all to see if that is the problem with the rear hatch.

the running board motors can seized up.
does the rear hatch lift up if you help it. weak assist strut/s are the usual culprit. if you remove them and can compress then by hand they are nfg.

I will go up if i help it. It won’t go down automatically when I push the close button. I will check fuses

thank you for your help. When I open the door the running board tries to go down but all you hear is a nasty grinding. And it does the same when I close the door and the running board motor tries to retract the running board

Nasty grinding may be that the motor assy. is bad.
My boards bind up and get slow or partial open then retract in the Northeast winters. TriFlow lube is the only thing I've found to keep my boards running smoother year round.
No sounds when the are binding. They will not work in sub zero weather.
