Default power running board question

Hey all .... i just got a 2008 LTZ Tahoe, it has the power running boards.

Is there a way to set them so they stay out all the time? I know they can be auto/disabled to stay under the vehicle, but can they be set so they stay stationary on the outside?

I like the way they look while driving and would like to keep them out.

Thanks.

You can open the doors to extend the Articulating Running Boards and then remove j-case fuse #65 from the underhood fuse box to keep the boards down while driving.

To keep the Articulating Running Boards extended for cleaning:

1. Open both front doors

2. Have a adult size individual step on the rear portion of the left running board and have someone close the left front door.

3. Wait 10 seconds and then step off the running board

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the right side.

5. The running boards will stay extended until the doors are re-opened or the vehicle is driven over 5 MPH

Will standing on the running board to many times burn the motor out or do any harm in the long run?

It shouldn't, the motor has a safety mechanism built in that will shut it off if too much resistance is placed on the drive before the motor overheats or is damaged.
