Default Bass Options

I'm looking at getting just a bit more bass from my '09 Tahoe w/satnav.

I found where to tap for bass leads, under the cup holders, however there are 2 sets of 2 wires each, I only want / need mono bass. as I plan on a single 12" JL sub.

I know of the JL audio front sub, a single 10 up front... but now there's 2 10s for the back

http://www.shopatron.com/products/pr...r=94484/1451.0

This looks... stupid. lol. does anyone own this?!

"Will not interfere with seat operation or comfort"

so... 2 10" 600 watt RMS SUBS right next to someone's head won't interfere with comfort?!

Also, how could they look out the WINDOW?

I've taken out my 3rd row, but found this product funny...

SO, should I do it? JL has a 250.1 amp (the new one) on sale with a 10 or 12" sub for $220, free shipping... then I just need a box for the 12. I have a custom 'box' where my 3rd row goes all the time in my truck. I'm looking for more tight bass, not earth moving, and removability for when I drive to the lake and need storage...

the little the speaker ( like a 8" or 10") will create deeper and tighter bass.. anything over 12" is just louder.. but JL: is a good brand for speakers..i'v owned a couple of 12" speakers and they were good..

I have had 2 JL Audio 12W3s in my Acura TL for nearly 7 years. They have been used and abused and never missed a beat with about 750 watts from my Kicker amp. I have always had great luck with Kicker brand amps (JL Audio amps are great), JL or Kicker subs and Kicker/Infinity/Focal (by far the best) for main speakers.

1 12' in the Tahoe would really hit hard and be loud. If you are just looking for some more bass I would get an 8 or 10 inch with about 200 watts RMS in a sealed enclosure. that would be about 1 cubic foot for the box so would not take up much space but would provide more than enough bass.

that JL box for the back of the Tahoe does look really funny. good idea but like you say it would be painfull for any 3rd row riders

Ok, so maybe I should go with a 10" they are the same price. the JL amp is 175 watts RMS at 4 ohms; but I hear JL under rates their amps.

My only remaining question is, how to tap the factory lines and wire them into the amp... I've read I can't tap the back speakers, but there is a spot under the cup holders to tap for subs... but do I just do one pair to the left and one to the right?

put the 10'' in a sealed box to save space and 175 watts would be fine. or you can get a dual 4 ohm voice coil sub and wire the coils in parallel to give the amp a 2 ohm load (will give you more power).

yes tap the wires under the cup holders (that power the stock sub). you will have a + and - for each side (right and left). bring those into the JL speaker level inputs
