I'm installing a battery to battery (DC/DC) charger in a 2011 Suburban 1500 to charge the house bank in a trailer. Trying to find the output in amps of an oem alternator and how much the vehicle systems use in normal operation. Can anyone help with this info? Thanks in advance if so, I tried checking the upfitter's guide and it's a lot to decode, and I'm cruising the forums to no avail. Trying to figure out how many amps I can pull without overworking the alternator.
Thanks,
Ben

Vehicle power usage is not a constant. HVAC, cooling fans, lights, etc. are big variables. I would not load it more than 30A to charge trailer batteries.
What is the fuse rating on the 12v power point in the 7-pin trailer connector? I would use that as the benchmark on how much you have available.
Tow vehicle electronic systems are designed for specific loads and tossing aftermarket loads on it could affect it.
You most likely only have a 160A alternator and one doesn't want to run it full blast as it will not last long doing that.
