Battery Replacement???
I recently had my Tahoe serviced at a local shop. During the service, I asked if they could run a battery test in order to see if the battery was still holding a good charge. The battery I have is the facory equipped AC Delco battery the Tahoe came with and is rated at 600 CCA. The battery is a little over 5 years old now and the Tahoe starts up with no hestitation at all. The test results; however, indicated that the battery is currently holding at 420 CCA's. The mechanic suggested a replacement battery would be needed. Now, I know there is no way of telling how long my old battery will last, but is this something I should be concerned about given that the battery is at 420 CCA's? The original battery indicates its a 6 year (6YR) battery. What do you think?
How hard up are you for the 80 bucks for a new battery?
How inconvenient will it be if you get stranded?
if you only make short trips and are always in town and can have someone come get you then I say let it die on its own.
but given that its 5yrs old...its coming just a matter of when..
The first sign of a slow crank I would replace it immediately as you may only get that one sign before it goes...
