Blend Door Issue? Video of noise 2001 Suburban
Hi All,
Trying to figure out where to start on my AC air conditioner issue. It gets cold, could be colder, BUT when the recirculating button is pressed a small whining noise is heard and increases with the RPMs of the motor. Goes away if I turn of the re-circ button.
AC works but the noise doesn't sound right. I also used to get a really noticeable fluttering noise when the fan was on and accelerate up to 2400rpm roughly. That noise is gone away.
I'm going to pull the fan motor soon and see if there's garbage in there.
Does this sound like an actuator problem? If so, which one? The one that's near the floor that's cheap and easy OR the one that requires dash coming apart and is more expensive?

Not sure what that noise is. I have a 2001 Yukon XL with a actuator that needs to be replaced (the easy one to do). It makes a snapping noise, that I hear in the cab. Not sure if I have heard it from the engine bay.
The noise that I hear on your video, sounds more like a bearing noise. Maybe it is the fan.
Tom
EDIT: just listened to it again, it almost sounds like it is the AC compressor.

I watched/listened to the video
1. You should be able to hear a bad actuator while in the cab. Had this issue on our 2005 Yukon.
2. If the compressor is engaged in the video, and then the recirculation button is pressed and then the noise comoes on, not a compressor issue.
3. Is it a video/camera effect or is the radiator/condenser fan really turning very slowly ???

IrishPsych: Welcome to the forum.
AFAIK, the only thing that happens when you go to recirc is it closes the door that allows outside air into the plenum. This is usually accompanied by an increase in air flow noise inside the cabin. Maybe the noise is coming from the actuator that operates this door for the recirc mode.
