I’ve heard nothing But positive feedback when it comes to catch cans and their effectiveness. Could you steer me toward the best thread describing a catch can installation?

Thanks! I try to stay on top of keeping it clean. The install is a pretty straight forward process, you are basically splicing into the PCV line from the valve cover to the intake manifold, the can "catches" oil vapor that would normally be sucked into the intake and burnt as part of the combustion process. The Moroso catch can came with extra hose to allow for the cans remote location. I empty it every time I change oil, typically it has about 2-4 table spoons of oil in it after about 7500 miles.

The link to my install is here https://chevroletforum.com/forum/tah...tch-can-78305/

How's your oil consumption been since the valve cover change? I never had smoke on startup but the consumption in my 5.3L was at about 1 quart every 1,500 miles at about 175,000 miles. Always used Mobil 1. I did the oil pressure relief valve shield and cylinder cleaning at 202,556 miles. Consumption dropped to 1 quart every 3,000 miles but by 270,000 miles, it was back to 1 quart every 1,500 miles.

At 273,380, I did another cylinder cleaning but this time with a much stronger cleaner and left it in overnight. At 273,390 I did the right valve cover.

I'm at 290,000 miles now and I'm only 1 quart down every 8,000 miles. Since I did both the valve cover and cylinder cleaning at the same time, I don't know for sure which one actually solved the problem.
