Default Boat towing

Hi all - We are considering purchasing a Four Winns boat and I'm slightly concerned on towing the size we want (H260). Boat, trailer and gear will probably be close to 7k lbs. We have a 2004 Surburban Z71 4x4 and would be towing to lakes that are 2-5 hours from our house. I believe the towing limit is 7,200 lbs? Between my 11 year old triplets, my wife and the gear I'm afraid we might be pushing the limit for the Surburban? Does anyone tow any distances with your Suburban? Any issues? Any other thoughts would be great! Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

The tow weight is just that. The gross weight of the 'burb should not affect it. So unless the wife and kids are riding in the boat, you should be OK at 7K lbs.

Greetings 3dad welcome to the Forum.

Just go to...
http://www.decodethis.com/
and type in your VIN number, and click on DeCode.

When the sheet comes up, select "Equipment".
In the Columns about a quarter of the way down
it will show you the exact Standard and Maximum
Towing limits.

Other references to that may be seen
as "GTW" and the poundage.

If you can keep the total (separate) weight of the tow
below maximum, with 10-15% on the Hitch, you should
be just fine. Those numbers are well within safety
limits for your vehicle.

Have Fun !

I had a 21' offshore walkaround, the reason I bought the Suburban, Automatic trans and 3.73 gears were no problems even on steep inclines. My runs were 2-12 hrs.

What gears you running? Auto or Manual?

Wouldn't you know it, I sell the boat and then get a job in Florida.
