Unhappy Bose radio

I have a 2006 Tahoe with the Bose radio system. Vehicle recently got broken into and they stole the radio. Insurance company sent me a Delphi replacement radio. Everything plugs in no problem. Only the volume level doesn't work nor is there any sound coming from speakers. I told the ins company bout this and they said that they were told that this radio would work. I told them that there was a Bose radio in my truck not a delphi. They said it's supposed to work. The GM pin number on the Delphi is 15800000. The delphi number is 28032959. Please help as the Ins company is not. I don't know who their talking to but, they don't know what there talking about. Please Help, Thank you

Welcome to the forum

Sorry to hear your truck got broken into that has to suck
Might check to see if the radio needs to be programmed back into the vehicle...
Since its not the exact same there may be some features that need to be re-activated...
just a thought...

I'd go to a dealer, and get the cost of an exact replacement, then dispute the insurance company. They are supposed to give exact replacements...not something that is close, but works.

From what I understand is that Insurance companies can use parts that are not OEM or exact.
The parts DO have to meet OEM standards but do not have to be the exact same...The only exception is if the vehicle is brand new.. I'm guessing because it would still be under an original factory warranty....

But for this situation they could have misinformation on the compatibility, I would take it to the dealer and ask them what they say...Heck they can do the work and bill the insurance company, you are allowed to pick who does the repairs, the insurance company will have to work with the dealer....

The dealer would also be able to pull the build sheet to make sure that he's getting the same replacement.

El cheapo, name your quote, state minumium coverage crap companies, maybe...

Allstate says they'll give an exact replacement, so I use them for most of my vehicles.

My Mercedes is through a different company that will also give an exact replacement, but also has an agree upon value should i ever wreck it...damned expensive to replace parts on a 25 year old Mercedes.

State Farm's policy states that they use CAPA certified parts unless otherwise requested by the policy holder.
Meaning they will use all OEM if you ask at the time of the repairs otherwise they use CAPA parts....I would speculate that is a standard.. except for the low ball companies as you stated...

In the newer vehicles(@2002 and up) there's a data port

adapter which needs to be hooked up to the wiring harness,

or no soap.

I had the same problem with my truck, radio-wise. (no sound from the speakers)

It may not be an issue of the proper radio, just a proper hook up.

Whether the insurance company did the right thing, don't know,

just pointing out a possible deficiency as to why the new

unit does not function...
