Default Brake Pad Life

So, my 09 LTZ is over a year old now with about 20,000 some miles... how many miles can I expect before I have to replace the brake pads (I do it my self) I was just curious... I rotate the tires every time I change the oil as well (I love that oil monitor thingy). So I can inspect them then. I also simplegreen + sponge the inside of the rims, makes them so much cleaner!

To many variables to guess on the brake life......Lots of Highway?....Lots of City driving? It could range from 25K to 150K all depending.

I figured it would be, i'm easy on brakes, the more gentle you are on the gas and brakes, the more MPG

my friend fried his in under 25,000 miles... he beat the crap out of the car.

what life has everyone else gotten?

you'll probably find a wide range to this. personally, i've put 45k+ on the set on it now, tho i know it's more as i didn't put this set on (previous owner did). it seriously depends on driving style, city vs highway, what the pads are made of. you really could go 60k+ on a set easy, or have them die around 25k. even with easy driving and braking, the life stil varies alot.

I have 40k on my 07 and they look fine... I would say that if you drive normally that you have them at least checked at 50K or at 3 years of service...

They all have the "squealers" on them so you'll know when it's getting close.

I use a carwash brush to clean the inside of the wheels every time I wash the rig. Unfortunately the GM chrome wheels have a rough finish on the inside.

I know older type rear brake shoes were prone to basically dry rotting and cracking as they rarely wore out.. if the pads are older then 4yrs old I would replace them...

I have a 2005 Tahoe LT 5.3L with 81,000 miles on it. I recently had my brakes inspected and was told I still have 75% brake pad life left on all 4 wheels. I've heard some Chevy owners go beyond 125,000 with the same brake pads. I've mainly done highway driving and expect to exceed 125,000 miles with the amount of brake pad I still have. Sweeet!

Default brake pad wear

I have a 2001 1500 sub. I went 101,000 miles on fronts and 110,000 on rears. I then installed Chevrolet replacement pads. It is very hard to beleive, but the brakes have 178,000 on them since the first pad change. I am waiting to change them again.
