I have an 02 silverado 2500HD with the 8.1 engine so that means I have the Allison transmission. The truck weighs 7K empty, and I tow a 5th wheel about 40K of those miles and maxed out on weight(about 24K lbs) I bought the truck new and just now replacing the rear pads at 115K miles. The fronts still have some miles left in them. I attribute the long life of my brakes to the Allison. The miles you get on a set of brakes mostlyl depends on how you drive.
