Where is the cam shaft sensor located on a 99 Tahoe 5.7L and is it difficult to replace? Thanks

Default RE: cam shaft sensor

I think its the crank shaft position sensor and on the 99 whichshould be the same as the 97 for the 5.7L, looking at the front of the engine right behind the crank shaft drive pully and balancer its at about the 7-8 o'clock position. Check and make sure the wiring for the sensor is not touching the exhust manifold at the front of the engine on the passenger side. I had problems with my 97 and though it was the crank shaft position sensor and turned out the wire harnnes connector had broken allowing the wiring to contact the manifold and short out.

My bad the cam shaft position sensor is located at the distributor, here is the page from the 97 5.7 CK truck manual
